1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help the website remember information about your visit — such as your preferences or login state — so you don't have to re-enter details every time you return.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies FoodLoot uses on our website (foodloot.app) and why we use them.

2. Cookies We Use

FoodLoot's website is a pre-launch information and waitlist site. We keep our use of cookies minimal and purposeful. The following categories describe what we use:

Category What it does Examples Can you opt out?
Essential Necessary for the website to function correctly. These cannot be disabled. Session state, security tokens No — required for basic site operation
Functional Remember your preferences to improve your experience. Remembering form input, scroll position Yes — via browser settings
Analytics Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and anonymous. Page views, referral source, session duration Yes — via browser settings or opt-out tools
Third-Party Set by services we integrate with to deliver their functionality. Loops.so (email list), font providers Yes — via browser settings or the provider's own opt-out

3. Third-Party Services That May Set Cookies

3.1 Loops.so

We use Loops.so to manage our email waitlist. When you submit your email address, Loops.so may set a cookie or use local storage to confirm your submission and prevent duplicate entries. Loops.so's own privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.

3.2 Google Fonts

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log your IP address and the fonts requested for performance monitoring purposes. For more, see Google's Privacy Policy.

3.3 Lucide Icons

We use Lucide (via unpkg.com CDN) to serve icon assets. CDN providers may log standard access request data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) for security and performance purposes.

4. How to Control Cookies

You have several options to manage or disable cookies:

4.1 Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. Instructions for common browsers:

Note: blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.

4.2 Opt-Out Tools

For analytics cookies specifically, you may use browser extensions such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on (if applicable) or general privacy tools like uBlock Origin.

4.3 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals websites not to track you. We respect this signal where technically feasible.

5. Cookies and the FoodLoot Mobile App

The FoodLoot mobile application (iOS and Android) does not use cookies. The app uses device-level storage and tokens managed by our backend provider (Supabase) to maintain your session. App-specific data handling is described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our website evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
