Yes. Surplus means unsold that day — not expired. Every vendor on FoodLoot follows standard food-safety practices, the same as any other order from their kitchen.

Surprise Bags come in three sizes — Small, Medium, and Large. Each vendor sets the price for their bags. The contents are always a surprise based on what surplus is available that day, but a larger bag means more food and more value.

When you reserve a deal, you receive a QR code in the app. Head to the vendor during your pickup window and show the code on your phone. They scan it to confirm. No paperwork, no queues.

FoodLoot auto-sends a push notification 30 minutes before your window closes, so missed pickups are rare. If it does happen, it's up to the vendor — some will let you collect late as a one-off, others only honour pickups during their opening hours.

If a vendor cancels, runs out, or the food isn't usable, we refund you to your FoodLoot Wallet — credit you can spend on your next loot, no questions asked.

Joining as a launch partner vendor is completely free. There are no upfront costs, no monthly subscription, no setup fee, and no equipment to buy. FoodLoot only charges a small flat fee per completed order — you only pay when a customer actually picks up a bag. No percentages, no surprise deductions. We confirm the exact figure during onboarding (or message us on WhatsApp and we'll send it).

Under a minute, end to end. Pick a bag size, set the price, set a pickup window — done. The vendor app is built for the counter: big buttons, no menus, nothing to learn. Your staff can run it on their first shift.

When a customer reserves a deal, they receive a QR code in the app. They arrive at your store during the pickup window and show the code on their phone. You tap to scan it in the FoodLoot vendor app — the order is marked collected. No cash, no receipts, no confusion.

Any prepared surplus food that's fresh and safe to eat — baked goods, meals, lunch boxes, pastries, drinks, combo boxes. The only requirement is that it was prepared on the same day. You decide what goes in every bag — we never put anything in for you.

When listing a deal, you choose a bag size — Small, Medium, or Large — and set the price for each. This lets you control your margins while giving customers a clear sense of what they're getting. You decide what goes in each size based on your surplus.

You choose the pickup window when posting each deal. Windows must be at least 40 minutes long and cannot be set in the past. You can schedule same-day or for a future date. You're in full control.
