The journalThe purpose

Be specific about food rescue.

Why FoodLoot’s purpose should be explained through a clear activity, not an unsupported headline statistic.

V2 editorial revision. It keeps the original article’s topic and address while removing unsupported statistics and outdated claims. It is a draft for editorial review, not a new first-person statement from the original author.

Different losses need different answers

Food can be lost or wasted at different points, including production, distribution, businesses and homes. Those contexts should not be treated as one interchangeable problem.

FoodLoot’s current consumer model has a specific scope: Surprise Bags of unsold food from participating businesses, reserved in the app and collected during pickup windows. Describing that activity precisely is more useful than attaching it to a broad national number.

An order is not automatically a meal count

A bag, an order, a meal and a weight measurement are different units. Converting between them requires a defined method and supporting records. A completed order cannot silently become an invented impact statistic.

The V2 website does not publish a rescued-meal total, waste weight or national comparison without that evidence. The earlier article’s numerical claims are not reproduced as verified facts.

Keep the purpose understandable

The immediate purpose is simple: give unsold food another opportunity to be eaten through a useful local pickup. The customer can judge the food and collection details without first having to evaluate a large impact claim.
